Agameone

Here's lovely Sally, a well-built 16hh 2006 WA bred mare by Game Plan out of Cosmetic Lift by Miswaki. Cute and very easy to get along with, Sally is sound, healthy and already in training under saddle. We're looking forward to watching her blossom - lots of potential here! Adoption fee: $750

Agro

Agro is a handsome 16.1hh dark bay gelding with a powerful, athletic build. He retired from racing in September 2009 and has been transitioning to a new career as a Western pleasure horse. If you are looking for a fun trail horse with a no-fuss, no-muss attitude, a good mind and lots of get-up-and-go, take a look at this fellow! Adoption fee: ADOPTION PENDING

Along the Way

Meet lovely Along the Way, known on the farm as 'Christy'. Spunky and full of life, this 2008 filly has been rehabbing with us and is just starting back to work on ground manners and Saddle Horse 101. Tune in for updates! Adoption fee: $750

Flame of Liberty

Here she is, Miss America! Lovely Flame of Liberty may not have pageant-worthy looks but she uses everything she's got and has so much kindness and charm that it's hard to see her minor imperfections. Libby is 8, WA bred and completely sound with no vices. Needs a little weight yet but thrives on attention and is very eager to please. Would make a lovely pleasure or family horse, English or Western. Adoption fee: $750

Regal Spice

Regal Spice is a 2007 15.3hh bay mare with exceptional ground manners and lots of affection to share with her handlers. 'Spicy' is, indeed, a little piquante under saddle but she's doing very well in her lessons and gaining confidence in each session. This horse is a real sweetheart and is completely sound and healthy - would make a great project for someone experienced in starting green horses and with lots of time to keep her busy. This is a high-energy horse with huge potential for athletic pusuits! Adoption fee: ADOPTED!!!

Tough Torque

The only things tough about this guy are his name and his body! Tough Torque, 'Toughy' to his friends, is a handsome 2004 16hh black gelding with a solid build and an outstanding personality. Easy to be around, well-mannered and a pleasure to have in the barn, Toughy seems to get on well wherever he goes. Not suitable for jumping or competetive pursuits, Toughy will be practicing for the trails and no doubt making lots of friends as he learns his new job. Adoption fee: $750

Tricksy

Meet pretty Tricksy, our new girl! Tricksy is a 16hh very nicely built 2007 dark bay mare by Western Trick out of Coursing by Regal Intention. Very nice to handle and already going W/T/C, she's sure to be a fun partner to take in any direction. A little dominant with other horses, Tricksy is very kind and respectful towards her human friends. 100% sound and very healthy, her only vice is cribbing and it's a habit she's not overly obsessive about. The Adoption Process

A Thoroughbred can be a marvellous partner and companion in a wide range of disclipines and settings however these horses are not for everyone. The first part of our adoption process is carefully considering what you are looking for in a horse. Once you have honestly assessed your needs and abilities as both a rider and potential horse owner and have read and understood our one year contract, you may find that adopting a New Stride horse is a good option for you.

The next step is getting in touch. Most people contact us with a particular horse in mind after having reviewed the horses we have posted for adoption. Typically, a potential adopter calls or emails the person listed as the contact for the horse and a dialogue about the suitability of horse and rider begins. New Stride endeavours to make the best possible horse and rider matches. We are honest about our horses' histories, abilities and potential and expect potential adopters to be honest with us in terms of their goals, abilities and circumstances.

Once a prospective adopter has been matched with a suitable horse (or horses) he or she makes an appointment to visit our farm and meet the horse. During this visit the adopter is allowed and encouraged to handle the horse, to watch the horse work under saddle and to ride the horse themselves. Family members who will ride or handle the horse and coaches or trainers, etc. are also invited to come along to this meeting. In-person visits are essential and no adoption is approved without them.

New Stride doesn't sell horses - we are an Adoption Society. You won't find any high-pressure tactics employed by any of our foster farms. We are seeking permanent homes for the horses in our care and will take the time to make sure that any partnership we approve has the best possible chance for long-term success.

When New Stride and a potential adopter have mutually agreed that a match has been made, the adopter submits a completed contract along with three references (vet, farrier and another equine industry reference) and hosts a visit by a New Stride agent to their stabling facility (*adopters from outside the Lower Mainland may email photographs of stabling facilites). This information is then put before New Stride's Adoption Committee for approval. Upon approval by the Adoption Committee, the adoption is finalized with the return of a completed contract to the adopter and their submission of the adoption fee.

Our one year contract does involve follow-up contact and we are always interested in knowing how any of our graduates are doing in their new homes and careers. New Stride is available to help and support owners throughout their first year of ownership and beyond.

Upon successful completion of the contract's one year term, the adopter receives their horse's Jockey Club registration papers and becomes the full owner of the horse. Congratulations, you're a Success Story!
